Since I keep getting requests from individuals curious about my movie, Gameplay: The Story of the Videogame Revolution, I thought I’d make a post with links to all the various ways you can watch this masterpiece of modern cinema. Here’s what distinguished film critic Tyler Yates of Red Carpet Crash has to say about it:
‘Gameplay’ is one of the best (if not the best) documentaries on the videogame revolution. It just hits the phenomenon from so many different angles and puts so much work and passion into its presentation. Also, it features a lot of old school videogame play AND commercials. This is definitely a movie to check out, learn a little something, and get nostalgic over.
It’s not yet available on disc or Netflix. But there are plenty of great options:

If you’re not based in the USA, try the Vimeo version first. I have reports that it’s working in Germany and at least two other countries.
I recommend that you select an HD version for a big screen, but the SD versions are significantly cheaper.
In any case, please watch the film if you haven’t already, and let me know what you think! I really think you’ll like this one a lot better than most of the other videogame docs out there.
Got my copy off Amazon in HD. It’s $9.99 there, though, not $19.99. I actually picked that link specifically to find out why it was so much more expensive there.

Thanks so much for the info, Matt! As I am in Spain I will have to see in which of them I am able to purchase it; thanks to the magical Geo-Blocking Spell I see some of the mentioned sites has here (or not available here) . But at least Vudu and Google´s ones do allow it.
It´s nice to see how in video games digital distribution services more documentaries and even funny movies are been offered. Been playing and consuming video games since New Computing Entertainment & SSI days, and as some video games has -in the best scenario: the was was released here too- very bad re-edition. For those who was not released here, as since 1995 was internet and at leat -latter- Amazon and retail vide games online shops arrived, it was easier.
But as CRPG -as RTS or online FPS- do requiered periodical official patches, nowdays I preffer to buy everything in digital, thanks to the auto-actualization option in the game itself or throught Steam. As I did in 2007 when Impulse and Direct 2 Drive (nowdays GameFly, as you surle may know) do still exists.
For me at least, it´s great to have the option as consumer to purchase a documentary like this one as with an indie CPRG -or any other genre- video game. Thanks again and greetings from Spain!

After weeks, if not months, Vimeo just removed the movie from my library and PayPal refunded the money…I’ve no idea why, it still seems to be available for purchase. Any clue why? Are there any issues with selling the movie in germany?

I was hoping to buy this movie on disc, as I don’t pay for this download/digital scheme. Shame on you for supporting this.
